Teacher Training Program for Gifted Children

Our common features combine to make us human. If we have differences, we can make each individual an individual. The educational needs of the individuals who differ between the average limits can be met by general education and training services. If these differences at both ends are outside the average boundaries, it is inevitable that special education services will be introduced. However, it is possible to achieve equal opportunity in education, which is one of the basic conditions of democratic societies.

With such a need, the Special Education Department was opened in the university education department in the 2009 - 2010 academic year. In this department, undergraduate programme of Mentally Handicapped Teaching and Undergraduate Teaching of Mentally Gifted Students are included and both programmes were taken during 2009-2010 school year.

YGS-6 point type students are taken into the Undergraduate Teaching Programme of Gifted Students. Students who graduate from our undergraduate programme can be assigned to state and private primary schools as classroom teachers and can work in primary schools that provide education to gifted and talented students. They may also apply to the teachers of the classroom teachers who are open to Science and Art Centres if they meet the conditions. They can choose their academic career by attending Master's and Ph.D. programmes, or they can work as gifted education specialists in private schools.
